PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting device to detect whether blanking effected by a press machine is normally executed with high precision through simple structure. SOLUTION: A material to be blanked is blanked by a press machine 10. A scrap material w' in which a plurality of blank holes are blanked is induced and incorporated into a bridge piece tearing detecting device 20. Left and right detecting rollers 52, (62) arranged at the tips of left and right levers 50 (60) are brought into direct contact with the scrap material w' and the size of each blank hole is detected. In this case, when the size of the blank hole exceeds a given amount, it is decided that abnormality occurs to a press feed amount, and the press machine 10 is stopped.
