PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost cover device to reduce weight through simplification of constitution, increases a column moving speed, and decreases the generation of noise. SOLUTION: A laterally movable column 4 is provided at a Z-axis moving table longitudinally movable over a base 2 and a frame is provided on the base 2 to support a guide rail 12. Left and right single body covers 20 and 21, consisting of a single plate, have ends on one side oscillatorily coupled to the left and right sides of the column 4 and ends on the other side oscillatorily coupled to a moving body 29 guided by a guide rail 12 to form a cover device to partition the front and the rear of the column 4 from each other. This constitution further simplifies constitution compared with a conventional telescopic cover and reduce the generation of noise since the covers make on contact with each other. Further, the weight of the cover device is decreased and the cover device is also supported by the guide rail 12, whereby the weight of the Z-axis moving table is reduced and a column movement speed is increased.
