PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool exchanging device to perform automatic exchange of a long tool mounted on a machine tool and minimize an installation space for the long tool. SOLUTION: This tool exchange device performs exchange of the tool of the main spindle device of a machine tool on which a tool held in a posture along approximately a horizontal direction is mounted. This tool exchange device comprises a tool magazine part 21 to have a tool pot 23, serving as a tool holding means, to hold a tool approximately along a vertical direction; a grasping arm part 62 to grasp a tool; and a revolving mechanism part 151 to revolve the grasping arm part 62. A tool in a state to be held by the tool pot 23 approximately along a vertical direction is grasped by a grasping arm part 62. The tool is changed into a posture held approximately along a horizontal direction only by the revolution motion of the grasping arm part 62 by the revolving mechanism part 151 and moved to a tool exchange position wherein the main spindle device can be mounted.
