PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an organic gas such as ethylene gas (C2H4) released from a farm product harmless under an atmospheric pressure without raising the temperature by using spark discharge to degrade the gas into carbon, oxygen or water, and to carry out the sterilization of bacteria simultaneously, and further to provide an apparatus for maintaining the freshness of the preserved fresh farm product for a long time. SOLUTION: Two electrodes A and B connected through an insulation substrate 4 to a power-supplying part E consisting of a transformer 5, an induction coil 6, a resistance or inductance 7 are fixed to the inside of a main body 1 of a container having an introducing opening 2 of an mixed gas of ethylene gas at one end, and an exhaust part 3 at the other end, being an insulator and made of an acrylic resin. A lot of floating electrodes 8 are installed between both the electrodes A and B, and spark discharge is caused between each floating electrode 8 by impressing a high voltage between the electrodes A and B.
