PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject premenstrual syndrome depressant composition that is effective for inhibiting the symptoms developing as premenstrual syndrome by admixing theanine as an active ingredient thereto. SOLUTION: The objective composition is prepared by using theanine as an active ingredient. The theanine is a glutamic acid derivative distributing in tea leaves, one of the main flavor enhancer for tea and has been used as a food additive for flavoring. The theanine is obtained by extraction from tea leaves, via an organic synthetic route or action of glutaminase on the mixture of glutamic acid and ethylamine. The tea leaves are, for example, leaves of green tea, oolong tea, black tea or the like. L-form is preferably used as the theanine. The daily dose of the theanine is 0.2-200 mg/kg of body weight, preferably 0.5-50 mg/kg of body weight. |
