PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission for a bicycle which is free from any feeling of discomfort for a rider or any unnecessary load on the transmission, etc., when bicycle speed is automatically varied. SOLUTION: An automatic transmission is provided with an actuator 4 having a geared motor 6 which is provided in the position to press a rod pin extended from the shaft center part of a transmission built in a hub body of a wheel and gives the pressure to the rod pin side and an accumulation part 80 to be interposed between the geared motor 6 and the rod pin, and a control board to control the actuator 4, and when the geared motor 6 is operated by the command from the control board, the actuator 4 accumulates the pressure of the rod pin in the accumulation part 80 until the built-in transmission is in a speed-variable condition.
