PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shredder in which the burden of work by an worker is lightened and which excels in workability. SOLUTION: Sheets separated and conveyed one by one have images on both the surface and back face thereof read at the same time by image read-out parts 110, 111, and the read images are accumulated and stored in a photomagnetic disk. And when the readout of the sheets is finished, the sheets undergo shredding treatment in the shape of a long, slender strip of paper to write waka(haiku) on by shredding rollers 114 and 115 and they are made to fall into and housed in a waste paper housing box 117. Or, in the case of sheets not needing shredding, by enlarging the spacing between the shredding rollers 114 and 115 a fixed distance or more, sheets 102a are passed without stopping and a waste paper guide plate 116 is rotated and moved to a prescribed position to make them fall into and housed in a non-shredded sheet housing box 118 without undergoing shredding treatment.
