PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform continuous operation for a long time by a method wherein when a rare earth alloy is cut by a wire saw, breakage of the wire is prevented from occurring, and the number of slurry exchange times is remarkably decreased. SOLUTION: A plurality of ingots are adhered to each other by an adhesive and with the ingots assembled as blocks 24a-24c, the blocks are fixed at a work plate 26. Two slurry feed pipes 29 are arranged at the upper part of a work plate 28, and slurry is fed through gaps between the adjoining blocks 24a-24c. Slurry containing fresh abrasive grains is injected downward through a slit-form nozzle. Viscosity of the slurry at 25 deg.C is set to a value within a range of 92-175 millipascal second and meanwhile, alloy sludge in the slurry is removed by a magnet separator. |
