PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition useful as a germicide for water treatment, an antiseptic for general industries, etc., having excellent safety by making the composition include a halocyanoacetamide, tetrachlorotetrahydrothiophene dioxide, etc. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) a halocyanoacetamide of formula I (X1 is a halogen; X2 is H or a halogen; R1 is H or a 1-6C alkyl) (e.g. dibromocyanoacetamide, etc.), (B) 3,3,4,4-tetrachlorotetrahydrothiophene 1,1-dioxide, (C) an alkylene glycol (e.g. diethylene glycol, etc.), or an oxyalkylene ether (e.g. diethylene glycol monomethyl ether etc.), of the formula H-(OCnH2n)m-OR2 (R is a 1-6C alkyl; n is 2 or 3; m is 1-6) and (D) a propylene carbonate. Preferably the composition comprises 5-50 wt.% of the component A, 0.5-20 wt.% of the component B, 3-90 wt.% of the component C and 2-50 wt.% of the component D. |
