PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform reliable removal of a glass base plate adhered to a machining table when material glass with a surface having excellent smoothness is machined into a disc-form glass base plate by grinding, and to provide the disc-form glass base plate without forming any flaw on the surface of the glass base plate due to chips generated by grinding and abrasive grains dropping from a grinding wheel. SOLUTION: Liquid is caused to flow onto the machining table 10 of a disc- form glass 21 through a nozzle 16 to remove dust on the surface of the table 10. With liquid flowing over the surface of the machining table 10, the disc-form glass 21 is placed on a machining table, liquid is sucked and the disc-form glass is sucked to the machining table. The disc-form glass is cut off by cutting means 30, 31, and 32. The disc-form glass is then thrust up from the machining table by an ejector pin 14, and the disc-form glass is taken up to an arm 12.
