PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the reasonable cutting by confirming the coolant (mist) supplying condition and controlling the supply of the coolant by including magnetic fluid in the coolant. SOLUTION: When the mist-like coolant supplied from a mist generating device 10 to a cutting unit through a mist supplying pipeline 7 passes through a passage inside of a main body of a detecting unit 1, this detecting unit 1 detects the quantity of magnetism of the magnetic fluid included in the mist, and converts it to the quantity of electricity. In the case where the supplied mist is smaller than a set value, a control device 15 gives a command for increasing the quantity of the mist to be generated to the mist generating device 10. Namely, rotation of a liquid supplying pump of the mist generating device 10 is improved so as to increase the coolant to be supplied to the mist generating device 10. The control device 15 determines the existence of the signal by the magnetism detected by the detecting unit 1. In the case of NO, a signal is transmitted to a control device for machine tool 30 so as to give a command for stopping the working.
