PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten print time by shifting a recording head from a home position to the start point of each line recorded at a start/end point recording section when each line of a print data is printed and shifting the recording head to the home position when it is shifted to an end position recorded at the start/ end point recording section. SOLUTION: When printing of each line is ended, a recording head is shifted to a home position. Since the recording head is shifted is shifted from the end position B1 of line I to the start point A2 or end point B2 of line I+1 before printing of the line I+1 is started, the shifting distance is shortened and thereby printing time is shortened. The recording head can be shifted between the start and end positions repeatedly and alternately such that the recording head is shifted from B1 to B2 before a line is printed and then it is shifted from A2 to A3 before another line is printed.
