An integrated computer system architecture that includes an infrastructure built on processes (102-120), hardware, software and interfaces designed to create a finite schedule (220) for processing jobs (210) in a mail processing environment. The present invention uses computers, networks (240, 260), web-based applications, and databases to interface and integrate mail processing equipment (250) with customized software in order to provide an up to the minute schedule (220) of mail processing jobs (210). The schedule (220) can be re-created following unforeseen events such as equipment going down or operators becoming unavailable that have a significant impact on the original schedule (220). The finite scheduling system (200) is linked to a job tracking system (230) that provides current production status to be used to re-create and re-optimize the schedule (220) based on the changed circumstances of the job. A new schedule (220) is generated in minutes thereby allowing responsible personnel to re-issue orders on the shop floor to finish the job. |
