The present invention relates to load control in a processing system (40), and the invention employs a priority-level-based hierarchy of buffers (66) in which tasks are stored temporarily before being collected for further processing. The idea according to the invention is to define a number of reservation classes such that a predetermined set of the buffers of said hierarchy is assigned to each reservation class, and to determine a capacity distribution array in which values that identify the reservation classes are put in proportion to the capaciry given to the corresponding reservation class. By collecting the tasks from the buffers in accordance with the capacity distribution array, the capacity given to each reservation class is guaranteed during a so-called reservation interval. |
