PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a central part of a roll of an ink ribbon taken up to a ribbon core from swelling by setting a recessed part having a predetermined breadth to a central part of an outer circumferential face of the ribbon core in a circumferential direction and absorbing a swell part of the central part of the roll by the recessed part. SOLUTION: A ribbon core 30 is formed like a cylinder, having a recessed part of a predetermined breadth formed entirely in a circumferential direction at a central part of an outer circumferential face. A central part except end parts at both sides of an ink ribbon 12 is pressed in touch with a tube by a thermal head, and moreover, heat of the thermal head is applied to the central part at the time of thermal transfer. As a result, wrinkles are formed to the ink ribbon, similar to conventionally. However, the recessed part formed at the central part of the outer circumferential face of the ribbon core 30 absorbs a swell part of a central part of a roll 12R of the ink ribbon 12 taken up to the ribbon core 30, thereby preventing generation of a swell to the central part of the roll 12R.
