PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a tea leaf manufacturing machine such as a cylinder rotation type steamer, capable of simply, inexpensively and correctly measuring a passing time of tea leaves through the steamer by individually measuring a weight at a supplying side and a feed out side of the tea leaf in a continuous tea leaf manufacturing machine. SOLUTION: This tea leaf manufacturing machine is controlled by individually measuring a weight of the tea leaves at a supplying side and a feed out side of a continuous tea manufacturing machine such as preferably a cylinder rotation type steamer. For instance, in controlling the cylinder rotation type steamer having a steam chamber 2 and a stirring chamber 3, load cells 6 and 7 are located at a supplying side of the steamer main frame 1 and load cells 8 and 9 are located at a feeding out side, then a weight at the supplying side and a weight at the feed out side are individually measured, thus an amount of tea leaves remaining in the steamer and a time that, the tea leaves pass through the steamer are calculated therefrom and a degree of the steaming is controlled by changing a rotation number of the rotating cylinder and the stirring shaft, an inclination of the rotating cylinder, a supplying amount of the tea leaves, etc., according to the data.
