FIELD: heating furnaces. SUBSTANCE: travelling chain grate with a layer of roasted pellets put on it has zones of drying, heating, roasting and cooling successively located in the continuous furnace. In the cooling zone cooling gas is directed through a layer of pellets and thus heated, and in the roasting zone due to fuel combustion the additionally heated gas in the other zones of the furnace is directed through a layer of pellets from top to bottom. The furnace cooling zone is divided into a great number of separate sub-regions following one another, which in accordance with their sequence in the direction of passage of the travelling chain grate are connected above the layer of pellets through separate ducts for direction of heated gas to the roasting, heating and drying zones. EFFECT: optimized use of heat of cooled air, which minimizes the consumption of fuel and amount of exhaust gases. 9 cl, 5 dwg
