The pole is formed from two vertical parts tapering from a wide base (17) to a narrow top (18). The pole has a hollow interior (6) to allow passage of a cable. Holes (30) are provided in the side of the pole to allow the cable to exit. Vertical reinforcing rods embedded when the concrete is poured provide the resistance to the tension imposed by the overhead lines.
