The plant has at least one slope conveyor(3,3') which transfers to the intake funnel(2) of the press the refuse offloaded from the refuse collection vehicle standing at a lower level in relation to the press intake. The refuse press and lower end of the conveyors are located on the same level, and preferably on ground level. A ramp(5,5') is provided for the refuse collecting vehicles and preferably overlaps the lower end of the respective slope conveyor.
