The invention relates to a radiation device for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes, for treating primarily T-cell- transmitted skin diseases, especially atopic dermatitis (neurodermititis), cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, lichen ruber, alopecia areata, systematic lupus erythematodes and psoriasis and for cosmetic tanning. The device comprises at least one optical radiation source that produces a radiation intensity of at least 2 mW/cm<2> in the wavelength range of 400-440 nm and a radiation intensity of less than 21 % of the radiation intensity in the wavelength range of 400-440 nm in the wavelength range 300-400 nm on a surface to be irradiated.
