METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ENRICHMENT OF HEAVY COMPONENT OF OXYGEN ISOTOPES

A method for enriching a heavy component of oxygen isotopes which comprises subjecting an oxygen material containing heavy components of oxygen isotopes to low temperature distillation to thereby enrich at least one of the following oxygen molecules containing one or more heavy components of oxygen isotopes: <16>O<17>O, <16>O<18>O, <17>O<17>O, <17>O<18>O, and <18>O<18>O; and an apparatus therefor. A method for further enriching the at least one oxygen molecule enriched above, which comprises subjecting a plurality of oxygen isotope molecules containing the above heavy components of oxygen isotopes which have been enriched by the above low temperature distillation to isotope scrambling; and an apparatus therefor are also disclosed.
