A composite body consisting of a support and at least one decorative layer joined thereto. The support consists essentially of a natural and/or synthet ic thermoplastic or thermoelastic polymer. Such a support can, for instance, be used for floor coverings such as parquet or for inlaid work. The invention also relates to a method for the production of a composite body, whereby the decorative layer is compressed with the support at a high pressure and high temperature to obtain said polymer.
