The fuse has at least a first conductive part (1) with a fusible region (10) for breaking the current flowing through the fuse. A barrier layer (2) made of semiconductor material is connected in series with the fusible region. The other side of the barrier layer is connected to a second conductive part (3). The first and/or the second conductive part may be provided with a fusible region. The barrier layer may have a control contact connected to an indicator device.
