The invention relates to a portal drive for a portal axle, especially an axle for a bus drive system. The axial bearing (4, 5) ofhe drive pinion (1), which meshes with two intermediate pinions (2), is pre-stressed by means of spring elements (7) in the form of disk springs, in order to prevent the drive pinion (1) from oscillating. The spring elements (7) are designed in such a way as to ensure that the axial bearing (4, 5) is pre-stressed evenly, even with production-related tolerances.
