The method involves winding an insulating strip (6) from a roller about an armature block of an armature rotating in the same direction so that the strip individually occupies each armature groove (5) and is finally separated from the roller. The strip is first inserted into a first armature groove and clamped, then a first rod (15) is applied to an adjacent pole; the strip is then passed tightly across the rod and inserted into the second groove and clamped, then the first clamp is released and the rod removed; the process is repeated.
