The circuit breaker has at least one contact bridge (9). A coil (15) connected to a supply and a magnetically conductive disc (5) form a magneto-dynamic drive. The disc is attached to an axially movable coupling rod (7) which adjoins a fixed permanent magnet (2) in a current conducting position, the coil being arranged in the working region of the magnet. The contact bridge is connected to the coupling rod.
