An apparatus for securing an add-in circuit card (12) in an electronic device includes a clamp (18) movably coupled to the electronic device, the clamp being configured to releasably engage the card upon movement of the clamp relative from a card engagement position in which the clamp is substantially inside the electronic device to a card disengagement position in which the clamp is substantially outside the electronic device. A switch (28) for controlling electrical power to the card is operated by the clamp such that movement of the clamp between the engagement and disengagement positions moves the switch from the closed to the open position.
