The polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell comprises at least one membrane electrode unit which has conducting electrode layers on opposite sides, distribution plates made of an elastic, plastic deformable material and integrated channels for the removal reaction and/or coolant media. A seal is located between the distribution plates and the membrane electrodes to seal off the individual gas and liquid chambers. The seal (14) is formed by integrated raised areas (16) in the distribution plates. |
