An optical disc is provided with a projecting portion 4 which projects parallel to the axis of rotation and enables the disc to locate in the inner tray 7 of an optical disc reading device, such inner tray normally be used to receive 80 mm mini-CDs (or 80 mm mini-DVDs). The projecting portion may be in the form of a knob 4, or an inner layer 30 which is thicker than an outer layer 40. The overall shape of the optical disc, viewed in plan, can be irregular and need not engage at all with the outer tray of the reading device.
