A lid (20A) for a container (16A) of liquid paint (14). The lid (20A) is usable with a system (12) for dispensing the paint (14) from its original container (16A) into a receptacle (152) according to a formula to form a pai nt mixture. The lid (20A) includes a base that releasably engages an open top o f the container (16A). The base has a pour spout through which the paint (14) can be dispensed and a movable cover element. The cover element is movable between a closed state, which closes the spout, and an opened state, wherein the pour spout is opened to allow dispensing. An operating arrangement on th e cover element is releasably engageable by an operating device (140) of the dispensing system (12) that moves the cover element between its closed and opened states. A mechanism on the lid (20A) aligns the container, while a latching arrangement of the lid (20A) releasably secures the container (16A) to the dispensing system (12).
