Micro-organisms of Amycolatopsis or Actinomadura strain, enzymes obtained from them and process for preparing amides

Microorganisms of species Amycolatopsis or Actinomadura able to convert nitriles into amides and provide enzyme extracts, are new. Also claimed are: (1) microorganisms of the species Rhodococcus GF270 (DSM 12211) and GF376 (DSM 12175), their variants and their mutants and their enzyme extracts, capable of converting nitriles into amides; (2) an enzyme with nitrile hydratase-activity obtained from the microorganisms above.
