PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the system and method for collecting information by which the excessive state of a memory capacity is prevented by reducing the file size of a collected file, and the memory resources of an auxiliary storage device, etc., are effectively available, and to provide a recording medium in which an information collection processing program is recorded. SOLUTION: An information collecting part 1 is provided with a file size check part 2 for collecting a file for managing the data of log information, etc., and comparing the file size of the file with a preset reference upper limit value, and a file size reducing part 3 for reducing the file size into a file size which is a preset reference lower limit value when the file size of the collected file exceeds the preset reference upper limit value. The file size check part 2 is provided with a file information collecting function part 2a for obtaining the information of the size of the collected file. The file size reducing part 3 is provided with a memory mapped file function part 3a and a file truncate function part 3b for previously deleting the old data of the file and leaving the latest data.
