PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid detergent which has a high detergency and is mild to the skin by incorporating an anionic surfactant and a fatty acid alkyl ester alkoxylate into the same. SOLUTION: This detergent contains 15-70 wt.% surfactant consisting of 50-99 wt.% anionic surfactant and 1-50 wt.% fatty acid alkyl ester alkoxylate represented by the formula: R1-COO(AO)n-R2. The anionic surfactant is an 8-20C fatty acidα-methyl ester sulfonate, an alkyl ether sulfate, or an s- alkanesulfonate. A nonionic surfactant used is a fatty acid alkyl ester alkoxylate having a narrow width of polyalkoxylation degree or its mixture with another nonionic surfactant such as a fatty alcohol polyglycol ether or a fatty acid amide polyglycol ether. In the formula, R1 is 5-22C alkyl or the like; R2 is 1-6C alkyl; AO is oxyalkylene; and m is 1-20.
