PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical material made from a synthetic resin having a high refractive index, excellent in solvent resistance and mechanical characteristics, also having a high heat resistance and further having a large Abbe's number, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This optical material made from a synthetic resin consists of a copolymer obtained by treating the following components (A), (B) and (C) for polymerization. (A) Component: a fluorine derivative expressed by the formula [(m) and (n) are each 0-3 integer], (B) Component: a compound having isocyanate group and an unsaturated bond, (C) Component: an unsaturated compound copolymerizable with the component (B).
