<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a function of an optical circulator, to enable performing high speed switching, and to give a self holding function by providing a means switching a direction of a current flowing in a yoke consisting of soft magnetic ferrite in which a coil is formed and a coil to a magnetic field applying means. SOLUTION: A yoke 41 in which a coil 42 is formed in one part is arranged so that a Faraday rotor 10 is positioned at a gap, and a magnetic field can be applied by making flow an appropriate current. In which magnetic field applying means 40, the direction of an applied magnetic field can be controlled by a current switching means 44 also arranged. Thereby, operation switching an output port of transmission light can be controlled, and the switch can be functioned as an optical switch. Ni group ferrite having a high residual magnetic flux density and the like are effective as a magnetic material of the yoke 41 for applying a magnetic field, a holding function at the time of non-energizing is excellent, and a self holding function of an optical switch can be realized.</p> |
