INK ABSORBING ELEMENT AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the obstruction of the diffusion of ink by laminating a synthetic fiber sheet rich in bulkiness and having specific density and specific thickness on at least one surface of a base material layer mainly formed from a natural cellulose fiber. SOLUTION: A base material layer 1 being one of principal members constituting an absorbing element is accumulated on the surface of an air permeable support sheet 2 comprising a dry pulp nonwoven fabric layer or the like in a mat form by a dry method mainly using a wooden pulp fiber. Bulky synthetic fiber sheet layers 3, 3a are formed on the upper surface of the base material layer 1. A polyethylene/polypropylene composite fiber not absorbing ink or an oil component is used as the fiber constituting the bulky sheet layers to be processed into a sheet with a density of about 0.01-0.1 g/m3 and a thickness of about 0.2-5 mm. By this constitution, pigment ink is rapidly transferred to the base material layer 1 being a lower layer to be diffused horizontally along a boundary surface and clogging is prevented and ink is efficiently absorbed and an absorbing speed is always high and stable liquid absorbing effect can be realized.
