PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tunnel timbering and its method wherewith timbering which is safe and can support certainly the ground can be erected quickly at the ground which is easily collapsible on excavating a tunnel with a shield- type TBM employed especially. SOLUTION: A timbering 9 which is in a type of divided timbering divided at a specified angle at the circumference in the inside of a tail part of a shield main body and composed of a plurality of divided timberings 10 and 10 with expansion struts 12 which are turnable on the plane defining the angle at the circumference hinged at their ends is erected, and the timbering 9 extracted out of the tail part by propulsion of the tail part of the shield main body is expanded radially against the ground. Then, the expansion strut 12 of each of the divided timberings 10 is turned against the ground, and fixation is made between the expansion struts 12 and 12 adjoining each other in the circumferential direction.
