PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cordless telephone system where call transfer from a master set to a slave set can be executed without subscription to a 3-party speech service. SOLUTION: The cordless telephone system consists of a master set connected to a plurality of public lines and slave sets 10 that have a home mode where each slave set is connected to a public line through radio communication with the master set and a public mode where each slave set can make a speech through radio communication with an outdoor public base station. The master set calls a slave set 10 via one other public line when detecting the arrival of a call from one public line, and calls a slave set 10 using also the home mode, and stops calling in the home mode when the slave set 10 replies the call through the other public line, conducts connection processing of each public line, and stops the call by the other public line when the slave set 10 replies the call in the home mode and connects the slave set 10 to the one public line.
