PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance rice cooking efficiency by soaking rice with a rice washer and a rice cooker. SOLUTION: A specified amt. of rice is measured out, supplied to a rice washer 4, washed and then soaked for a specified time. While the rice is soaked, the rice washer 4 begins to move toward the top of a rice cooker 6 and then stopped at a specified position. Subsequently, when soaking is finished, the rice is discharged into the inner kettle 89 of the cooker 6 from the washer 4 along with the proper amt. of cooking water, then a lid 90 is put on the kettle 89, and soaking is continued for a specified time. When the soaking is finished, an ignition switch is turned on to start cooking. Rice has been cooked after 20 min, the cooked rice is allowed to settle by its own heat for 15 min, then the lid 90 is opened, the kettle 89 contg. the cooked rice is brought out, and a prepared empty kettle is set and let stand-by for the next cooking.
