PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a comparatively high compression rate without strikingly deteriorating the image quality. SOLUTION: This digital image compressor is provided with a means 11, that compresses a digital image including pixels with a 1st value to decompose the digital image to a set of tiles and a means 18 that compresses each of the set of the tiles. The compression means 18 generates data for a 1st set and a 2nd set related to the 1st set, in response to binary tiles of the set of the tiles. The binary tile has pixels having a background value and other pixels having another value, and data of the 1st set include spatial position information on all pixels which substantially have the background value in the binary tiles. The data for the 2nd set include data which denote the compressed 2nd tiles, and each pixel of the 2nd tiles includes another value. |
