PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault analyzing method for an image information device which can analyze the fault of the image information device by a method having superior flexibility without increasing storage capacity and being superior in general purpose properties. SOLUTION: In an image analyzing method for an image information device connected to a terminal device in a data communication network, the image information device conducts a preliminary diagnosis (S2) according to its built-in preliminary diagnostic program, if the image information device becomes abnormal (S1) and informs the terminal device of the result of the preliminary diagnosis (S4). The terminal device being informed of the result obtains a fault- analyzing program corresponding to the result of the preliminary diagnosis (S12, S14, and S16) from a specific server in the data communication network, by communicating with the server (S6) and transfers the fault-analyzing program to the image information device (S13, S15, and S17), and the image information device makes the received fault-analyzing program run to analyze the fault (S18).
