PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which is an endoscope insertable into the large intestine in a self-traveling system by allowing an endless belt disposed on the outer side of a soft part of an insertion tube and is provided with a means capable of easily cleaning the endoscope after use. SOLUTION: The self-traveling type colonoscope 1 is the endoscope insertable into the large intestine in the self-traveling system by allowing the endless belt 10 disposed on the outer side of the portion of most of the length of the soft part 4 of the insertion tube 5 and is provided with a guide pipe for guiding the return endless belt in the insertion tube. The one end of the guide pipe is provided with a port 35 for insertion of a cleaning brush. A casing 31 enclosing an endless belt drive part is provided with a cleaning window 33 and this cleaning window is provided with an opening/closing cap 37.
