PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of excessive water pressure due to freezing so as to avoid failure and enhance reliability even if city water remains in between a selector valve part and a tap connection. SOLUTION: A selector valve part 5 is held in a selector valve holder 7, which is displaceably disposed within a faucet column main body part 2. A second draining course R for draining water is provided. A protective mechanism part 8 is provided whereby the selector valve holder 7 is displaced by the water pressure Fp of a water pipe Pw side to a closing position Xc for closing the draining course Rd and displaced, by the application of water pressure Fs not smaller than a predetermined magnitude from a tap S, to an opening position Xo for opening the draining course Rd.
