PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent aqueous gel and an article using the gel which can be easily handled because nothing harmful for a human body is used for preparing the gel and it is easily dissolved in water, which is transparent and has shape-keeping ability, and from which the release of volatile materials such as perfumes is hardly reduced as time elapses even if the gel is left in the air. SOLUTION: This aqueous gel is obtained by reacting gelatin with an ammonium reactant of the copolymer of maleic anhydride and other ethylenic unsaturated compounds under the presence of a water-absorptive resin and water, and has transparency and shape-keeping ability. Even if the gel is left in the air, the release of volatile materials such as perfumes is hardly reduced as time elapses. Toxic compounds are not used for preparing the gel, and the gel can be dissolved well in the preparation. And by putting a mold of water- swelling resin previously swollen with the aqueous solution of a deodorant and/or aromatic material into an article, a special deodorant/aromatic article is obtained.
