摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use negative pressure generated in an intake passage, as a negative pressure source of a brake booster. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine selectively performs first combustion hardly generating soot since the EGR gas quantity in a combustion chamber 5 is larger than the EGR gas quantity with the generated quantity of soot reaching its peak, and second combustion in which the EGR gas quantity in the combustion chamber 5 is smaller than the EGR gas quantity with the generated quantity of soot reaching its peak. Negative pressure generated in an air suction pipe 17 downstream of a throttle valve 20 is led into a brake booster 60.</p>
