PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal compressor for audio system which can realize desired signal compression with a relatively small number of parts and so as to reduce the higher harmonics distortion and noise which are inevitably generated from the conventional signal compressor. SOLUTION: An audio system for vehicle reproduces a relatively quiet passage with a somewhat large volume and a passage having a very large volume in the same piece of music with somewhat small volumes during the course of signal compression so as to reduce the large dynamic range of the output signal, etc., of a CD player. Since audio signals are supplied from a volume control section 2 which can be adjusted by a user, a digital setting signal following the adjustment on the user side is supplied from a bus line 8. Since a window comparator 30 compares tracking signals N with 8 reference value REF, the content of, for example, an up/down counter 40 is reduced. |
