PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a device with which an image is generated and a device with which the image is formed by inputting information in response to a software having used to process the image by an external device and adding the information to the image, in response to the software in a way unidentified by human eyes. SOLUTION: Information in response to a software having used to process an image by an external device is entered, and the information in response to the software is added to the image in such a way that it is cannot be identified by human eyes. A tracing signal generating section 1 of the image processor composes a model number of a color laser beam printer and an external device identification signal read from an ROM into a tracing signal. The model number stored in the ROM is given to a tracing data conversion section 13, where the model number is converted into tracing data. This image processing unit can generate the tracing pattern in this way and add it to an output image without being conspicuous.
