PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability by fixing a base to one end of a insulating body, connecting an ac voltmeter and an ac ammeter to the lower stream of a wiring extended from the base capably of visualizing the display parts, and operably connecting a short-circuit switch to it. SOLUTION: A base 2 for a high-pressure discharge lamp is fixed to one end of a long insulating body, an ac voltmeter 3 and an ac ammeter are fitted to the side capably of visualizing the display parts from the outside and being ranged upper and lower. Further a short-circuit switch is fitted to the side of the ac ammeter 4, so as to be operable from the outside. The discharge lamp is detached from a luminaire to be inspected, the base 2 of a checker is screwed in the socket in a holder, primary power supply is fed to a power circuit including a ballast, and no load voltage indicated by the ac voltmeter 3 is recorded. Next, the short-circuit switch is operated to read out ballast short-circuit current by the ac ammeter 4. By comparing the indicated values of the ac voltmeter 3 and the ac ammeter 4 with the rated value of the inspected ballast, quality of the ballast can be discriminated. |
