PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicone straight finishing oil suitable for carbon fiber precursor fibers by mixing a main finishing oil component having a coefficient of kinematic viscosity larger than a specific value with a diluent of a specific non-silicone compound. SOLUTION: This main finishing oil component containing an amino-modified silicone having 0.05-10 wt.% amino modification and a coefficient of kinematic viscosity of 1,000 CST at 25 deg.C, an epoxy-modified silicone having 0.05-10 wt.% epoxy modification, or other (modified) silicones except the above-stated amino or epoxy modified silicones, having a kinematic coefficient of viscosity of 100 CST, is used in an amount of 1-90 wt.%. and the diluent components of a non- silicone compound having a flash point of >=70 deg.C or substantially having no flashing point, for example, a higher fatty acid alkyl ester in an amount of 10-99 wt.% are mixed to give the objective silicone straight finishing oil having a kinematic coefficient of viscosity of 100 CST at 25 deg.C. A copolymer containing acrylonitrile component is spun, the resultant fibers are dried, compacted and treated with this finishing oil to give the objective precursor fibers for carbon fibers. |
