PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient insertion method of repeater cells. SOLUTION: To a net read out from a DSPF file 13, whether or not insertions of repeater cells are necessary is determined. When the need for insertions exists, after a direction graph is created, as for the respective segments constituting the net, whether each 'Insert-OK' flag is OK or not is examined, to insert the repeater cells into the segments having their load capacities exceeding a threshold capacity, when it is OK. The retrieval of the inserting position of the repeater cell is performed for it to proceed from the end point of a signal (input terminal) to the start point of the signal (output terminal). When the insertion of the repeater cells are completed, a repeater- position computer 10 outputs a Verilog-HDL net list converting file 19 which is fitted with a repeater file. Based on this file, a repeater relocator 30 generates an updated AXO repeater which provides file 25.
